今天我想聊的是，我们是如何谈论爱情的。

OK,so today i want to talk about how we talk about love.

我尤其想聊的是。

And specifically.

我们谈论爱情的时候。

I want to talk about what's wrong.

到底哪出错了？

with how we talk about love.

我们大多数人在这一生中。

Most of us will probably fall in love a few times.

可能也深爱过几次。

over the course of our lives.

在英语语言里，坠落这个比喻。

and in the English language,this metaphor,falling.

是我们在谈论这种经历时，常用的说法。

is really the main way that we talk about that experience.

我不知道你是否这样。

I don't know about you.

但当我理解想象这个比喻时。

but when i conceptualize this metaphor.

我脑中的画面就像卡通片那样。

what i picture is  straight out of a cartoon...

比如有一个人。

like there's a man.

他在人行道上走。

he's walking down the sidewalk.

他没注意到自己走过一个打开的井盖。

without realizing it,he crosses over an open manhole.

然后他就直接掉进进下水道里了。

and he just plummets into the sewer below.
